Sara Muñoz

Sara Munoz is a Master’s Student in Food Science in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences at Texas Tech University. She has received her Bachelor of Science in Industrial Microbiology from the Pontifical Javeriana University at Bogota, D.C., Colombia. She is professionally expertized in Quality Control in Food and Pharmaceutical Companies. She also has a blend of experience in research, teaching, academic and scientific writing. Her major interest is in investigating methods to prevent or eliminate pathogens growth and to implement quality systems to ensure the quality and safety of products in food industries as well as in pharmaceutical companies.

In Colombia, she had experience in food safety research, in biotechnology, working with bio-inoculants, and in pharmaceuticals in quality control and validation of microbiological techniques. She is highly qualified and experienced in planning, performing, and analyzing validation of processes in food and pharmaceutical companies as well as validation and optimization of microbiological techniques and methodologies in a third party or certified laboratories.

Sara is a Bilingual professional experienced in analyzing students research projects and helping them achieve goals through scientific analysis and academic writing. She has worked as an academic consultant, assisting students in designing experiments for research and statistical analysis of data. Besides she has experience working as a writing consultant in the Writing Center at Javeriana University.

Currently, her focus of research is food safety through sanitary assessments, chemical interventions for food processing operations, regulation and quality systems implementation in food industries such as Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP.
